Lock & Go offers both options:

Both locations are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays. Both use automated lockers, and cash payments are not accepted.

These are planning suggestions. Your hotel location, mobility needs and departure arrangements may change the better choice.

When should you choose luggage storage near Milan Duomo?

The Duomo District location suits visitors whose plans are concentrated in central Milan.

You might already be staying nearby, arriving from another part of the city or spending your final afternoon around the cathedral, shops and restaurants.

You are checking out of central accommodation

If your accommodation is near the centre, leaving luggage locally may save a separate trip to the station before sightseeing.

Think about where you will go after collecting your bags. Central storage is most convenient when that collection stop fits naturally into your departure route.

For a complete plan, read what to do in Milan after hotel check-out.

You are visiting the cathedral

A suitcase can complicate a ticketed visit. Arrange storage before reaching the attraction and leave enough time to get to the correct entrance.

Our guide to Milan Duomo luggage and bag rules explains what to check before visiting with a suitcase or backpack.

You want to spend your remaining time in the centre

If your afternoon is built around a meal, shopping or a walk near the Duomo, a central collection point can make the schedule easier to organise.

Check the Milan Duomo District location and book your locker.

When should you choose luggage storage near Milano Centrale?

The Centrale location suits journeys that start and finish in the station area.

Lock & Go Milano Centrale is at Via Tonale 5. It is a separate facility near the station, rather than a counter inside the railway station building.

You arrive and depart by train through Centrale

Leaving your suitcase near the station allows you to explore with a smaller day bag.

At the end of your visit, return to the storage facility, collect your belongings and continue to the station.

Include the collection stop in your departure schedule rather than treating arrival at the locker as arrival at your train.

Your onward transport departs from the station area

Use the exact departure location on your ticket or confirmation. Different services can have different boarding points.

A storage location near Centrale can work well if it is on the route to your booked transport.

You have a short gap between journeys

For a limited stop, storing your bag near your departure point may simplify the return.

First calculate how much time remains after drop-off, travel to your activity, the return journey and collection. A short visit is more enjoyable when the schedule has some room.

Check the Milano Centrale location and book your locker.

How do you travel between Milano Centrale and Duomo?

During normal service, Milan’s M3 metro line connects Centrale FS and Duomo directly.

Check current services and any disruptions through ATM, Milan’s public transport operator.

The metro journey is only one part of the total transfer. Also allow for walking to the station, reaching the platform, waiting for the train and walking to the locker facility.

For an early-morning or late-night collection, check your transport separately. Lock & Go remains open 24/7, but that does not mean the metro runs all night.

Four practical ways to organise your day

1. Arrive at Centrale, explore Milan, depart from Centrale

Start by leaving your luggage at the Centrale location.

Travel to the centre with the items you need for the day, then return to collect your bags before your next train.

This arrangement keeps your suitcase close to your final departure area. It can be useful when you have no reason to bring it into central Milan.

Choose a sightseeing finish time that leaves room for the return journey, collection and finding your platform.

2. Check out near the Duomo and spend the afternoon centrally

Leave your luggage in the Duomo District, then organise the afternoon around one or two activities nearby.

You could have lunch, visit an attraction or browse the shops before returning to collect your bags.

For an itinerary, follow our guide to things to do near Milan Duomo in two to four hours.

Build your onward journey around the collection point, particularly if your train or airport transport leaves from elsewhere.

3. Arrive before your accommodation is ready

Choose storage based on where you will spend the waiting period and where you will go once check-in opens.

If you want to explore the centre before returning to central accommodation, the Duomo District may fit.

If your hotel is near Centrale or you have another reason to remain in that area, station-area storage may be more convenient.

Confirm your accommodation’s actual check-in time before deciding how long to book.

4. Enjoy an evening before travelling

Both Milan locations remain open overnight, so your luggage collection can fit an evening meal or late activity.

Choose the location that works with your transport afterwards.

Before heading out, save the access instructions and decide how you will get back. Keep your phone charged and carry the essentials you will need during the evening.

What locker sizes are available?

Lock & Go offers three sizes:

LockerOfficial dimensions in centimetresApproximate dimensions in inches
Mini35×35×45 cm14×14×18 in
Standard48×45×85 cm19×18×33 in
Maxi48×61×85 cm19×24×33 in

Use the centimetre measurements when checking a close fit. The inch equivalents are rounded.

Mini: for smaller belongings

The Mini can suit a compact backpack, handbag or small shopping bags that fit within its dimensions.

Check the bag when packed. Filled external pockets and rigid sections can affect the space it needs.

Standard: for suitcases and combinations of bags

The Standard offers more space for luggage, provided the items fit the compartment.

Include handles and wheels in your measurements. For several bags, consider how they will sit together.

Maxi: for larger bags or more belongings

The Maxi is the largest of the three listed options.

It can be useful when your bags need more room, but large items still need to be measured. The name does not guarantee that every stroller, instrument or piece of sports equipment will fit.

How much does Lock & Go luggage storage cost in Milan?

The advertised starting hourly rates are:

Locker sizeStarting hourly rate
MiniFrom €1.49
StandardFrom €2.49
MaxiFrom €3.49

Review the final price for your selected location, size and duration before paying.

How are longer stays and additional time charged?

Billing uses whole hours, rounding part-hours up. Hourly pricing applies through the fifth hour; from the sixth, the daily tariff covers storage up to 24 hours. Longer stays use the published multi-day rates.

Additional storage time is charged at the applicable rate without a separate extension penalty.

Check the current daily and multi-day prices when booking. Do not estimate a full day by simply multiplying the starting hourly rate by 24.

Should you book online or pay on-site?

Online booking lets you choose the location, size and planned duration before arriving. On-site purchase can suit a more spontaneous visit, subject to availability.

Online bookings are paid in advance for the selected duration. For an on-site purchase, you pay the first hour initially and settle any remaining balance at collection.

If a particular locker size matters to your plans, check availability before travelling to the facility.

Save your confirmation and follow the access instructions supplied with your purchase.

Can you pay in cash?

No. Lock & Go does not accept cash payments.

Use one of the electronic payment methods available during online booking or at the facility.

Check the options presented in the payment process you are using, as online and on-site payment interfaces may differ.

Are both Milan locations always open?

Yes. Lock & Go Milan Duomo District and Milano Centrale are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays.

You can organise a drop-off or collection at any hour, following your booking and access instructions.

Save those instructions before arrival, particularly if you plan to visit during the night.

The opening hours of nearby stations, transport services and attractions are separate from the opening hours of Lock & Go.

How does locker access work?

Lock & Go uses automated access with a booking code.

Follow this sequence:

  1. Select the correct location and locker size.
  2. Complete your booking or on-site purchase.
  3. Save the confirmation and access information.
  4. Follow the instructions to open your compartment.
  5. Place your bags inside and close the door.
  6. Keep the code available for collection.

Before leaving, check that you have your travel documents, phone, wallet, medication and anything else needed during the day.

Read how Lock & Go works for the service instructions.

Can you reopen the locker to collect or add an item?

Yes. Reopening within the first hour is free. Later reopenings that continue storage require payment of accrued charges plus €0.50 per reopening.

Follow the on-screen instructions and choose the option to continue storage if you are leaving belongings inside.

This can be useful when you need a jacket or want to add shopping bags. Make sure any additional items fit in the compartment.

The charging rules are explained in the Lock & Go terms and conditions.

What should you keep with you?

Pack a small day bag before closing the locker.

Take the items you will need for sightseeing and onward travel, including:

The published terms exclude liability for valuables, personal documents and electronics such as laptops and phones. Keep these with you.

Review the security information and applicable conditions before storing your belongings.

What if your plans change?

Check the conditions before booking, especially when your travel dates are uncertain.

Customer cancellations are non-refundable under the published conditions; consult the terms for any discretionary voucher option.

If your question concerns a booking, use the contact details supplied with the confirmation and provide the information needed to identify it.

If you simply need a longer storage period, follow the additional-time payment instructions.

How can families and groups choose the right arrangement?

Start with a complete list of the luggage you want to store.

Measure each bag and consider whether one larger compartment or several separate lockers will be easier to use.

Several lockers may be practical when members of the group will return at different times. A shared compartment may suit a group that plans to collect everything together.

Keep any stroller or item needed during the outing with you. If you want to store one, measure it folded and check that it meets the service conditions.

Agree who will manage the booking and be present for collection.

How much time should you leave before your train or flight?

Work backwards from the time you need to reach the correct departure point.

Include:

  1. The journey from your last activity to the locker.
  2. Time to collect and organise your bags.
  3. The transfer to the station, airport or boarding point.
  4. The arrival margin required by your transport provider.
  5. Some room for delays.

A locker near a station does not mean your train is immediately outside. You still need to reach the correct entrance and platform.

For flights, confirm the airport and terminal on your booking before planning the transfer.
